Modern Fuel gallery is a non-profit organization located in Kingston that supports local artists. They facilitate “the presentation, interpretation, and production of contemporary visual, time-based and interdisciplinary arts. Modern Fuel aims to meet the professional development needs of emerging and mid-career local, national and international artists, from diverse cultural communities, through exhibition, discussion, and mentorship opportunities.”
Rationale
The fun, hand-drawn, artistic style used for the map illustration represents the creativity of the organization itself and their support for contemporary art styles. The colours are meant to shed a very positive light on the relocation, as there are some downsides to moving from a location the organization has been for over 30 years. We wanted to create something that was functional but artistic and attention-getting at the same time and would also display all of the benefits to relocating. The map side of the brochure shows how to get from the original location to the Tett Centre, and some related organizations in the surrounding area.
